New Provincial Report Cards
As you may have heard, the province is piloting a new report card format this year. It is further inportant to note that our school division chose to not pilot the report card this year, but rather to use it next year. Our staff is currently engaged in discussions and professional development in preparing them to implement this report card next year.
How are they different? The new report card will still use percentage marks, and now allow greater opportunity for the teacher to include more personnalized comments about a students strengths, areas needing improvement as well as goal setting for the next term. The new report card wil also allow a teacher to comment on your child's learning behaviours that also have a great impact on a student's success. The new report card will also include on the last page a summary of all courses completed to date and a list of which courses are still required to achieve graduation. This report card will also be the only format used by all high schools in the province therefore standardizing how we report on student progress.
What will the new report card look like?
What do I do if I want more information?
The school will also be sharing info about the report card at the September 17th, 2013 Parent Advisory Meeting. Should you require more immediate information, please contact our admin team. |
