International Baccalaureate Theory of Knowledge’s Great Escape:
Grade 11 Theory of Knowledge IB students recently went on a field trip to see the University of Manitoba campus. There, they were treated to hands-on sessions by Architecture, Nursing, Entomology, Library, Sports Complex personnel as well as opportunities to engage in Visual Arts, Tiger Claw Kung Fu and other sessions. The goals was to get a sense of what the U of M campus is like as well as what universities are doing to attract IB students. See the photos here |
International Baccalaureate Group 4 Project:
High schools tend to become a little more specialized insofar as course content is concerned. However, IB students in Grade 12 get together across the Sciences and conceive and create a project which incorporates various science aspects from their IB courses. The Experimental Sciences are categorized as Group 4 subjects... hence the name “Group 4 Project”. Here are some pics from those projects! |
30 Hour Famine30HR Famine is looking for parent volunteers to help supervise the event on Friday, April 16 through Saturday, April 17. There are 4 different shifts of 3.5 hours in length. Information will be going
home in the next couple of weeks with the students interested in participating. Should your child choose to participate, the forms they will be given to complete will have a parent volunteer sign-up sheet, please return if interested. If your child will not be participating but you would still like to help out, please email Mrs. Zinn at hzinn@sjsd.net or Mme Lécuyer at nlecuyer@sjsd.net. Last year we were able to accomodate 200 students that raised approximately $14,500.00 and we would not have been able to have such a successful event without the help of our parents and parent volunteers. |
Our students returned to work with the same students from École Assinoiboine as in first semester. We read stories to them and this time were also able to listen to the Grade 1 students read us a little something. What a pleasure to see their progress! Can`t wait to see them at our school when it becomes warm! Photos |
